La favola fantastica 'Jupiter's Moon' vince Sitges 2017

Sitges 2017 la 50° edizione del Festival internazionale del cinema fantastico della Catalogna, premia il cinema europeo. E' l'ungherese Kornél Mundruczó, un regista che ha sempre saputo inserire l'elemento fantastico nelle sue opere, il vincitore del festival con il suo 'Jupiter's Moon'. 

Il film vincitore che è stato accolto con grande entusiasmo ha molto colpito il pubblico, il regista ha infatti, invocato un po' di complicità e ha tentato di creare  una maggiore consapevolezza nella società civile per uno dei drammi della nostra epoca: l'immigrazione. Il film vince anche il premio per gli effetti speciali. 

Il premio per la miglior regia è andato al francese Coralie Fargeat che ha girato un incredibile opera prima, "Revenge", un film violento, ispirato agli anni '70. 

La lista dei premi di Sitges 2017 riconosce i ruoli di Marsha Timothy in Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts e Rafe Spall in The Ritual. Il regista catalano Pintó & Caye ha ricevuto il premio per miglior corto con R.I.P e il premio del pubblico per Matar a Dios. Il premio della giuria José Luis Guarner è stato assegnato ad ex aequo a due film che avevano gia una garanzia di qualità riconosciuta sia dai festival di Austin e Locarno per il brasiliano As boas maneiras e da quello di Cannes per The killing of a sacred deer Yorgos Lanthimos.

Saluto al maestro Mario Carotenuto

Salerno a lutto: si è spento all'età di 95 anni Mario Carotenuto, celebre artista originario di Tramonti che, questo pomeriggio, ha lasciato un vuoto incolmabile in quanti lo hanno conosciuto e stimato. Talentuoso pittore e ceramista, autore di innumerevoli opere, tra cui  il noto Presepe Dipinto presso la Sala San Lazzaro del Duomo di Salerno, Carotenuto verrà ricordato da tutti per il suo talento e la sua umanità.

Cold skin

In 1914, just after of Franz Ferdinand's assassination that eventually caused World War I, a steamship approaches a desolate island on the edge of the Antarctic Circle, where a young nameless man is poised to take the post of weather observer, to live in solitude at the end of the earth along an entire year until the arrival of his replacement, where the next twelve months his entire world will consist of a deserted cabin, trees, rocks, silence and the surrounding sea. Meeting Gruner, island's lighthouse keeper, and realizing that the previous weather observer died by typhus time ago, nameless man discover the first night on the cabin where he lives that a strange beings close the cabin. Olga Pericet. Pisadas. Fin y principio de mujer

La mujer como protagonista de su propia historia desde el punto de vista de Olga Pericet; en Pisadas, fin y principio de mujer, la artista flamenca rompe con los códigos preestablecidos y plantea el reencuentro de las personas con sus orígenes, sus tradiciones y celebraciones; por eso las fiestas populares y los rituales son el epicentro de esta nueva creación, en el que Pericet se acompaña de reconocidos artistas com Juan Carlos Lérida al baile.

Licenciada en danza española y flamenco y conocedora del contemporáneo, la cordobesa Olga Pericet es una de las mejores representantes de la renovación flamenca de la escena actual. Desde 2004, año en el que estrenó su primer espectáculo, la artista no ha dejado de trabajar. Ha compartido escenario con figuras como Ana Laguna, Lola Greco, Nacho Duato, Enrique Morente, Isabel Bayon, Joaquín Grilo, Merche Esmeralda o Carmen Cortés, entre otros… “Pericet innegablemente es carismática y con una técnica deslumbrante”, dice de ella The Washington Post.

Esplorando le riviste e i foglietti che andiamo raccogliendo nei vari uffici turistici, centri culturali e caffè, abbiamo trovato l'annuncio di questa iniziativa che ci ha incuriositi. Così prese le bici che sono custodite nel garage del gentilissimo Senor Carlos abbiamo raggiunto il Museo Maritim nel centro della città alla fine della Rambla. e qui ci siamo goduti gli stand dei vari operatori culturali, privati e aziende che si occupano di rendere facile e accessibile l'offerta cullturale in Barcellona. La lista delle biblioteche e i centri civici, le piscine e anche le scuole internazionali, gli avvocati, quelli non mancano mai, c'era di tutto e il responsabile del dipartimento cultura di Barcellona ci ha fatto una panoramica dell'offerta culturale pubblica e privata della città. proprio una bella iniziativa.

Rodin, l'offerta culturale di una metropoli

Ci siamo fermati a Barcellona ed iniziamo ad esplorare quello che offre la città a due visitatori desiderosi di scoprire la vita culturale di una vera metropoli. Ecco la prima cosa che troviamo: una mostra di Rodin.. uno studio sulla sua opera mai finita ed esposta solo una volta in forma ridotta... la sua visione della porta dell'inferno. Una meraviglia la cui visita è offerta gratuitamente il lunedì pomeriggio. Bellissima la sede della mostra la Fondazione MAPFRE e come sempre affascinanti le opere, studi, schizzi e statue in bronzo di un'opera enorme. Grazie Barcellona iniziamo proprio bene!!!!

Sitges, dietro le quinte del Festival! 

Sitges, questo splendido paesino lungo la costa sud di Barcellona è una vera delizia e ha un fascino particolare. lo abbiamo conosciuto perché ospita ogni anno il Festival internazionale del cinema fantastico, che e' forse su questo tema uno dei più importanti e ci ha immediatamente affascinato. I vicoli, il lungomare e le spiagge di Sitges hanno un'aria magica che ti conquista. Arrivederci Sitges al prossimo anno|

La proiezione di 'The Lodgers' chiude Sitges 2017, la 50° edizione del festival

The Lodgers, tratto da una novella che rappresenta in pieno il genere horror gotico chiude la cinquantesima edizione del Festival internazionale del cinema fantastico di Sitges. 

In questa giornata di chiusura sono stati inoltre consegnati altri due premi, il regista di The Super, Stephan Rick, ha accettato il premio Time Machine in rappresentanza del suo attore Val Kilmer, e l'attore Tony Isbert ha ricevuto il premio Nosferatu, assegnato nella sezione Brigadoon del Festival. 

Il gran finale di questa edizione è stato garantito dallo show di "La Fura dels Baus", rappresentato sulla spianata davanti alla chiesa di San Bartomeo e Santa Tecla, luogo emblematico del festival di Sitges. Appuntamento al prossimo anno!

What happened to Monday?

In un futuro non tanto lontano, la sovrappopolazione mondiale ha portato ad una politica molto restrittiva che obbliga ad avere un unico figlio. A causa di questa restrizione a sette sorelle identiche vengono dati i sette nomi dei giorni della settimana e sono costrette ad avere un'unica identità all'esterno e a doverla vivere a turno, uscendo solo una volta alla settimana. La routine funziona bene, sono state cresciute e sono aiutate dal nonno materno che ha stabilito delle regole molto rigide, fino a quando una sera lunedì non torna a casa...

The Brink

(Jonathan Li, Hong Kong 2017)

Il detective Tung pur di catturare il contrabbandiere Shing è disposto a utilizzare tutti i mezzi disponbili. La ricerca lo porta in un casinò organizzato su una nave da crociera, qui si troverà a fronteggiare le lotte per il potere fra i vari gruppi di delinquenti. Una situazione estrema che fa da ottimo scena per l'azione spettacolare che caratterizza il film. Il regista è stato assistente di grandi registi del genere fantastico ed è al su debutto come regista.

Okja

(Bong Joon-Ho, USA/
Corea del Sud 2017)

Mija vive in una zona isolata di montagna in Corea con il nonno e la sua migliore amica Okja, una scrofa enorme. Quando l'impresa senza scrupoli che aveva creato Okja reclama i suoi diritti sull'animale, Mija fugge all'inseguimento della sua amica per cercare di riportarla a casa. Con questa denuncia risoluta di un capitalismo ormai fuori controllo Bong Jonon-Ho, autore di alcuni dei più apprezzati film coreani degli ultimi anni, come Memories of Murder, The Host and Mother, riesce ancora una volta a combinare generi diversi sempre con una grande abilità,

Mal Nosso

(Samuel Galli, Brasile 2017)

Arthur ha dei poteri soprannaturali, può infatti comunicare con i morti. Uno di questi spiriti è il suo maestro, in varie apparizioni lo avvisa che il diavolo intende distruggere l'anima di sua figlia. Arthur dovrà quindi prendere dei provvedimenti drastici per impedire che questo terribile minaccia si avveri. Per il bene della figlia si immergerà nel pericoloso dark web, per contattare ed assoldare un sanguinario serial killer e salvare l'anima della ragazza, dando così vita ad  un thriller inquietante.

Norse Mythology

Gloves Off

(Steve Nesbit, UK 2017)

Duramente colpito e ormai sull'orlo della depressione a causa della morte del suo allenatore Doug è un ex pugile, gestore di una palestra di periferia, assediato dai debiti che minacciano di fargli perdere la sua attività. La sua sorte sembra cambiare quando una bellissima zingara lo convince ad allenare suo fratello, per poterlo far gareggiare e vincere una somma ingente di denaro, in un tradizionale combattimento a mani nude che si tiene ogni anno all'interno della comunità gitana.

Le avventure del gruppo di emarginati che girano intorno alla palestra, e che non si tirano indietro di fronte alle serie difficoltà che incontreranno in questa impresa, sono al centro di questa interessante commedia drammatica.

Il regista è uno scrittore e regista pubblicitario che firmato film come Curio e North v. South.

A Ghost Story

Un fantasma vaga per campi e strade fino ad arrivare ad una casa di periferia: è qui che, in vita, abitava insieme alla moglie. Fino alla morte, improvvisa, da quel momento in poi il suo spirito sarà destinato a vagare per sempre (o forse no?) all'interno di quelle mura: nella teoria di un universo ciclico che nasce, muore e rinasce dovrà fare i conti con il suo futuro che sarà, contemporaneamente, anche il suo passato.
